Too expensive (room and breakfast) especially for Cheltenam.

The breakfast was generous and extensive, with a lot of meal options including pastries and yogurt. The property's location was convenient, next to a posh area. Luckily, it was close to Clementine where I enjoyed pastries when it was rainy outside.

I liked the people on staff. Everyone was helpful and delightful. I knew the hotel was old and not too ritzy and that's what I liked about it. The computer wake-up call didn't work in the morning but the following day staff called me personally. I had trouble with the phone in my room and there was noise from the room next door. Staff allowed me to make calls from another room, solving my most pressing problem in a creative way. Noise is a fact of life in older hotels and I tried to keep my TV and noise down and believe the people next to me did as well. From the breakfast buffet to food service in the retaurant and bar, and the same day laundry service... things were done efficiently and on time and the people were most helpful. I felt so at home there. I loved the location, the people, the antiques. The breakfast and all my meals were great. The noisy plumbing, ancient phones, small lift, were not only charming but I'm sure the fact that it's not all modernized keeps the price down a bit. I did not have a car and the location was perfect as I could walk to lgreat shops, restaurants, pubs, etc. It was not a luxury modern hotel, and it was a bit pricey. But it was place I felt at home and could really relax after two weeks of travel around Europe. The ambience and people made it a good experience and I look forward to returning.
I do wish the phone in my room had worked properly but the staff cheerfully allowed me to use one in another room. I also wish the wake-up-call computer system had worked, but again.. staff took care of me on departure day by calling me personally. The only thing I will really complain about is the internet being charged by the hour and it's almost impossible to disconnect it from an iPad. The charges are far too high from anything I have encountered in my travels and it will discourage business people particularly and I felt the rate I was paying should have included free internet. This hotel is not for everyone but I enjoy the antique and unique. I really loved this hotel and I look forward to my next visit from the USA.

The breakfast was very tasty, we had not expected that in England. Unfortunately, the restaurant manager was not relaxed every day. The young lady at the reception (blonde hair) was very friendly and smiled again and again every day. The Queens is a very nice traditional hotel. At any time I would book it again.
In summer the beds and duvets were very thick and warm.
